A heatwave is expected to hit parts of central and southern peninsular Spain, as well as the Balearic Islands, from Wednesday.
The Spanish met office said ‘hot air from Africa’ will result in temperatures above 40 degrees, while night temperatures will remain above 25 degrees.
The most affected areas are the Ebro, Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys, which include the cities of Madrid, Cordoba and Seville.
The Balearic Islands, particularly Mallorca, will see temperatures above 35 degrees.
