5 Reasons Why to Move to the Costa Blanca

Taking the step to move to Spain is something a lot of people dream about, but there are only a few who will really make it happen. And once you made the decision to go for it, the next question will be: Where in Spain do I want to live?

Spain is known for its Spanish Costas and the Costa Brava, Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca are the most popular. The Costa Blanca is a great option to move to because of the 5 following reasons:

1. The healthy climate

The Costa Blanca is known for its good climate and various micro-climates, which make sure that summers are not too hot, and winters not too cold. The temperature will always be comfortable providing you with an opportunity to enjoy the Spanish weather in as well summer as winter. Out of 365 days, the sun shines more than 320 days and besides that it hardly rains.

Javea is recognized by The World Health Organization (WHO) for having one of the best and healthiest climates in the world. This climate has a very positive effect on human health, which even reduces the symptoms of certain health conditions. Well, that is a reason to move.

2. Artisanal, healthy and fresh foods

On the Costa Blanca there is a lot of ecological, natural and sustainable agriculture to find. Fresh vegetables, fruit, olive oil and fish are what the Mediterranean diet is known for and you can find those ingredients back in the Spanish cuisine. Spain is known for the use of a lot of products locally produced and harvested, so you can be sure that you will be often eating foods that didn't travel long ways to get to your plate. Besides that, most of the towns on the Costa Blanca have their own fresh fish markets which will give you the opportunity to buy the catch of the day to create an amazing meal in your own (outside) kitchen. Also, you can find extensive menus in the many restaurants for great prices starting from only €10,-.

3. Breathtaking nature

Besides the gorgeous coastline, the Costa Blanca is also known for its rugged and mountainous landscape. Picture-perfect bays, miles of sandy beaches and large rocks make nature absolutely breathtaking.

The Marina Alta, which is located in the North of the Costa Blanca, is known for the beautiful natural park the Montgo, named after the mountain which guards over the towns Javea and Denia and provides its people with beautiful views. The Montgo is 754 meters high and has the shape of an elephant when seen from specific view points. It has an especially green landscape and consists of numerous hiking paths.

Besides all of this, the Costa Blanca has a big variety of orange, olive and almond trees which create a beautiful landscape, especially around winter time when most of the trees are blossoming.

4. No mass tourism all year round

The towns of Jávea, Calpe and Dénia are the busiest in July and August. The rest of the year it is generally quiet on the Costa Blanca and the people living here will be mainly local residents, which gives you the best of both worlds. In summer you will feel like a tourist in your own town, going with the flow of the many people enjoying their days on the beach, drinking cocktails, going out for meals and enjoying life. In winter you will have your town back and you can enjoy nature, food and culture all by yourself.

Winter time is also the perfect time to go outdoors to enjoy all different types of sports. In the Costa Blanca you can find a lot of hiking paths and cycling routes going through the landscapes full of mountains. Because the winters are generally mild, the temperature is perfect to get out there and get moving.

5. Good accessibility to the airports of Alicante and Valencia

There are several daily flights from the airports of Alicante and Valencia to various airports in the UK, Belgium, Germany, France and The Netherlands. Besides that, it is possible to easily rent a car at both airports to tour the beautiful Costa Blanca. There is also a shuttle service called Beniconnect available which will bring you from the airport of Alicante to the surrounding towns, which gives you complete flexibility in how you want to visit the Costa Blanca and how much you want to spend on transportation.
